The Bagua Map: Your Guide to Energy in the Home

One of the most powerful tools in Feng Shui is the Bagua, which is a mandala or map that helps us understand how the energy in our homes connects to different areas of our lives.

BTB Feng Shui, the school I studied, uses the front door as the primary reference point. This makes it easy and accessible: no matter which way your home faces, you can align the Bagua by placing the bottom edge along the main entrance wall.

The Bagua divides a space into nine life areas, also called guas:

  • Wealth & Prosperity

  • Fame & Recognition

  • Love & Relationships

  • Family & Community

  • Health & Center

  • Children & Creativity

  • Knowledge & Self-Cultivation

  • Career & Life Path

  • Helpful People & Travel

Each gua corresponds to themes in life, as well as colors, elements, and shapes that can be used to support and balance energy there. For example, enhancing the Wealth & Prosperity area might mean adding healthy plants, symbols of abundance, or colors like purple and green.

By making thoughtful and intentional adjustments (even small ones!) you can help energy flow through your space better, supporting your goals and well-being.
